Our Community

A Legacy of Service, a Commitment to Washington, DC

At Happy Violet DC Natural Nail Salon, community is more than a word — it’s a way of life. Giving back didn’t begin with the launch of our Violet Salon DC. It began long before, rooted in the values passed down by the ancestors. From Little Rock to Detroit, then Seattle and now Washington, DC, our family stayed active in every neighborhood we called home. Whether it was my grandfather house-sitting for neighbors or my grandmother sharing homemade blackberry pies, the message was clear: “To whom much is given, much is required.”

That spirit now lives on at Happy Violet DC Natural Nail Salon, where caring for your nails is just one way we show our love for the people around us.

Why Community Matters at Happy Violet DC Natural Nail Salon

Our salon was built with the belief that wellness starts at home and extends outward. That’s why we are more than just nail salon – we are a partner in our city’s growth and health.

Whether volunteering at shelters, organizing supply drives, or employing youth, every part of Happy Violet DC Natural Nail Salon is infused with purpose. We believe our work in the salon should reflect our work outside of it: healing, uplifting, and empowering others.

The Causes and Commitments That Shape Our Work

Personal Roots, Public Impact

I learned by doing—picking up trash in the neighborhood, caring for pets, and baking for neighbors. As an adult, I carried those early lessons into leadership roles in the Washington, DC area and beyond:

Board Leadership with organizations such as Wonders Learning, University of Washington DC Alumni Association, and National Alliance of African American Athletes.

Fundraising & Events that raised funds that supported pandemic graduations, and meal deliveries to homebound seniors in Ward 4.

Volunteering with Project GiveBack, Montgomery County Child Welfare Services, and the Military Retirement Home, and other non-profit organizations.

Community Engagement Through Happy Violet DC Natural Nail Salon

We are committed to continuing—and expanding—our community impact through the work we do at the salon. Here’s how:
